I bet y’all are all wondering about the story behind that beautiful old house pictured on my home page.
Well that’s my dream house!
It sits atop a hill and its view is of a pretty country church just over on Main Street. The steeple of the church stands tall above the trees and in the viewable distance beyond are giant windmills seemingly whirling lazily round. I sigh, as I stand there on that hill taking it all in and my heart swells with great delight.
One day I’m going to buy a pretty porcelain plaque and name the house, “Wildflower Manor,” because wildflowers literally blanket the field beside it! Come spring, summer and even into autumn, the field is awash with a brilliant display of color! It truly is a sight to behold! I literally sing with joy as I walk the grounds and I’m usually singing songs of worship but if you were one of my neighbors out in that great expanse where voices carry, you’d likely also hear me belting out such tunes as, “the hills are alive…,” or “Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam…” One would be sung in my best operatic voice obviously and the other in my natural Texan twang! Either way, it’s my way of celebrating the Creator and the beauty that He’s made and has invited me to enjoy!
There’s lots more to share with you about this beautiful old place! So, if you love seeing a renovation, keep an eye on this blog! Graham (or as I fondly like to call him- Gra) and I are currently restoring this beautiful old house and I’ll take you along on the journey with us! I’ll also show you some of my thrifty finds that we want to thoughtfully implement into the design.
I just can’t resist picking a wildflower bouquet from our field!
The cheery yellow spice shelf was purchased at a Goodwill in Eastland for $5.00.
The vase, a free gift from a friend that we buy old salvaged bits and pieces from.
